Jessica's  Kayak Slalom Photo Album

PHOTOS

This was when it all started!  I learned how to paddle slalom gates during the Gold Medal Camp held on the Kern River in March 2004.  My instructors were Tom Long, Bob Campbell, and the Long brothers Tren, Chad, and Kenneth.  I had a wonderful time during the four-day camp and learned a lot about proper paddling techniques, eddies, and ferries.  I was paddling a plastic Dagger Blast — the finest slalom boat for newbies!

Thank you Gold Medal Camp for getting me started in the sport I grew to love!

Highlights:

· The Gold Medal Camp (looking really dorky in newbie gear — thanks, Dad!)

· Meeting Rebecca Giddens right after she won a silver medal in the Athens Olympic Games.

· Running Mexico’s blue waterfalls

· My first Class IV run (Santa Maria).

· My first slalom race during the American River Festival—April 2004.

· Learning how to play kayak polo

· Summer on the Payette River in Idaho with Coaches Tom Long and Bob Campbell.

Best of Year 2004
