I held a slalom clinic with a focus on improving river running skills. Fourteen eager GCP paddlers participated last Sunday, July 6 at the Nugget, directly upstream of Chili Bar. teaching, and in my clinic, I took what I have learned over the years and shared it with others. I really enjoyed myself at this clinic. It is so rewarding to help enlighten a fellow paddler and to see that a concept has finally clicked in their mind. The image of Emily giving a celebratory gesture with her paddle in the air after executing a tricky offset combination is still fresh in my mind. I feel that I can make a difference through sharing my knowledge and that is what is rewarding about teaching.
Thank you Dan Crandall and Keith Miller for all the logistical support and organization you both provided to make the clinic happen.
Thank you Dad for helping to instruct and for taking pictures.
Thank you to those who provided a donation toward my expenses in this coming Junior Worlds race in Europe.
And thanks to all the participants for another wonderful day on the river!

Dry land instruction on proper posture and efficient stroke mechanics preceded the slalom clinic. I really enjoy using slalom technique and applying it on improving river running skills! |
