No More Hiking!!!

Last year’s trip to The Gorge (October 2004) ended in a hike out as the flow was too low at 350 cfs and Number Three was sketchy but the portage was even sketchier because of the heavy and continuous rain that made the slick steep granite canyon extremely slippery to portage.  So we hiked up and out the steep canyon.

Des and Neus are really cool friends and awesome paddlers.  They even treated us to watermelon at the takeout!

Here I am.  Red boat with red helmet — what can I say?  I love red!

That’s me stylin’ Number Three in The Gorge.  It’s more fun with more water and not having to hike out!

This year, I was determined to complete the run and not have to do it wearing a dry suit.  Together with Dad and our regular paddling buddies and fellow hikers Desmond Harrington and Neus Padros, we ran The Gorge in warm summer weather and bright sunshine!

At 600 cfs, The Gorge was a ton of fun with beautiful scenery and technical rapids.  Check out the photos!
