Boat control is a process that ensures your boat meets minimum weight, width, length, and end thickness requirements. The officials use tools to measure and weigh your boat in order to certify it with a sticker when you pass. If you don't pass, you do things to fix it. In my case, I had to add putty at the tip of my stern as it was too thin. (Thanks for helping me, Craig!)

Lifejackets too need to be inspected to make sure they meet bouyancy requirements. They dunk the lifejacket in a barrel with an 18 lb. weight. If it floats, then it passes!
